What the Monarch Framework™ Is
The Monarch Framework™ is a biblical leadership formation model built around four stages: Egypt, Exodus, Chrysalis, and Monarch. These are not personality types, not levels of achievement, and not a curriculum to complete. They are formation seasons — each one doing a specific kind of work in the leader's identity, capacity, and relationship with God.
The framework is named after the monarch butterfly — not for its beauty, but for its biology. A monarch does not become what it is by improving on what it was. It dissolves. The process is total and internal. What emerges is categorically different from what went in. That is the arc the Monarch Framework™ maps.
The framework is grounded in Scripture — specifically in the pattern God uses repeatedly throughout the biblical narrative to form leaders: a season of constraint and survival (Egypt), a season of disruption and release (Exodus), a season of internal formation and identity rebuilding (Chrysalis), and the emergence of a leader who leads from identity rather than survival (Monarch).
The Monarch Framework™ is not a model for becoming a better leader. It is a map for becoming a different kind of leader — one whose authority is rooted in identity, not performance.
The Four Stages of the PATH
Each stage of the Monarch Framework™ does a specific kind of formation work. They are sequential — not because a leader moves through them once and is done, but because each stage builds on what the previous one formed.
Stage 01 · PATH
Egypt
The season of survival-mode leadership. Egypt is where most leaders spend the majority of their careers — performing, managing, holding everything together. It is not a failure. It is a formation season. But it was never designed to be permanent.
Stage 02 · PATH
Exodus
The breaking season. Old structures stop working. The strategies that sustained Egypt no longer hold. Exodus is disorienting because it looks like loss — but it is the necessary disruption that creates the conditions for formation.
Stage 03 · PATH
Chrysalis
Internal formation. Identity rebuilt from the inside out. The Chrysalis stage is the most misunderstood — it feels like falling apart, but it is the season where God does His deepest work. The four movements of the Chrysalis are Reclaim, Remember, Rooted, and Rise.
Stage 04 · PATH
Monarch
Integrated authority. Leading from identity, not survival. The Monarch stage is not a destination — it is a posture. A Monarch leader carries what God assigned, releases what He didn't, and leads from the inside out.
What the Framework Is Not
The Monarch Framework™ is not a personality assessment. It is not a spiritual maturity scale. It is not a hierarchy — Monarch leaders are not more valuable than Egypt leaders. Every stage is doing necessary work.
The framework is also not a curriculum to complete. You do not graduate from Egypt by learning enough about it. Formation happens through the work God does in the season — not through information about the season. The framework is a map, not a shortcut.
Finally, the Monarch Framework™ is not a parallel system to any existing framework. It does not replace, compete with, or supplement other leadership models. It is a distinct biblical formation map with its own vocabulary, logic, and diagnostic tools.
